• BOA Fit System: The BOA Fit System is an alternative to traditional laces and speed lacing systems available in select Vans snowboard boots, offering a high-performance fit solution with instant, precise, fine-tuning on the fly.

The BOA Fit System is composed of three components: a micro-adjustable dial, strong, lightweight laces, and low-friction lace guides allowing the lace to glide smoothly for evenly distributed pressure. BOA offers a faster, more convenient, and more adjustable method of lacing compared to traditional laces.

The only major downside to BOA technology is the cost of maintaining this technology. If your BOA system becomes damaged, you will need to move indoors to repair it. The good news is that BOA Fit Systems are guaranteed for the lifetime of the product in which they are integrated. Visit BOAfit.com for support, repair kits, and spare parts.

• Instep Flex Zone: Instep Flex Zone maintains the natural ankle flexion in your boot, even while strapped into your bindings.

• Heat Retention 360°: Our Heat Retention 360° uses a layer of 200g insulation over the toes so they stay warm even during the coldest temps. With a liner material of neoprene and EVA, moisture is wicked away from the foot.

• Waterproof, breathable valves: Waterproof, breathable valves ensure breathability and thermal regulation by transporting moisture away from your feet. Moisture leads to rapid heat loss, cutting your time on the mountain short. Extremities, including your toes, are prone to hypothermia, so staying warm and dry is important not just during your session, but long term.

• Waterproof zipper shroud + D ring: Waterproof Zipper Shroud + D Ring is a durable, weatherproof fabric shield blocks moisture out of your boot. It also features a metal D-ring for securely fastening your pant gaiters to lock out snow. Combined with the waterproof, breathable valves, your feet have everything they need to wick moisture out and keep it out.

• The North Face FlashDry™ materialization: FlashDry™ fabrics are engineered to wick moisture away from your skin, acting like a second skin on the body and keeping you dry even during the most strenuous activities.

• PleasureCuff: The supple elasticity of the PleasureCuff delivers a cushioned, comfortable fit that keeps your calves supported.

• Powercuff Strap: Our Powercuff Strap offers extra support at the top of the boot for increased stability and response.

• Adaptive Range Mode: Designed for movement off your board, Adaptive Range Mode widens the opening of your boot for extended range of motion for overland adventures or "parking lot mode." Disengaging the Ride Mode strap opens the Rear Drop-Cuff and two-way stretch gore, providing significantly more calf articulation for longer strides and less wasted energy.

• V3 Superenduro Waffle Outsole: Inspired by moto endurance racing with a multi-directional tread design, surface-level texturing, and a TPU toe pick for added traction and snow tread, this outsole upgrades Vans’ signature waffle tread for cold weather conditions.

Vans offers a wide variety of snowboard boots with BOA Fit Systems, from beginner to advanced, taking you from the park to the backcountry and everywhere in between. For precise, on-the-fly adjustability without taking your hand out of your glove combined with thoughtful features specific to whatever type of riding you’re after, Vans BOA snowboard boots make your life easier while getting your fit perfectly customized to your feet every time.

Do Vans snowboard boots run big or small?

Vans snowboard boots are designed for a performance fit. Their initial fit will feel small, but as the liner molds to your foot they will be true to size.

How should snowboard boots fit?

Snowboard boots should be snug, but not so tight that they hurt. Also, don’t judge the fit of your boots by your first entry—snowboard boots take a couple days to pack out and adapt to your feet. Your ideal boot should hold your heel in place with a little room for your toes. When you put pressure on the tongue of your boot, your heel should stay down (think about applying pressure during turns).

What is the difference between men’s and women’s snowboard boots?

The main difference between men’s and women’s snowboard boots is the cuff height, the width, and the flex. Men’s calf muscles tend to be higher, resulting in a higher, wider cuff to accommodate their anatomy.

When should kids move up to an adult boot?

Kids should move to an adult boot when their feet are too big for the largest kids’ size, their ability exceeds the flex level offered by the boot, and their bindings are compatible with adult boots.

What do snowboard boots flex ratings mean?

Flex ratings indicate boot stiffness: how much support your boot offers and how quickly energy transfers from your body to your board. A low flex rating means a more flexible boot, and a higher flex rating indicates a stiffer boot.

Flexible snowboard boots are designed for freestyle riding in the park, with more mobility for tricks, but have less energy transferred to your feet and legs when landing or tackling choppy conditions. Stiffer snowboard boots provide more stability and control for faster, steeper, more aggressive riding and offer quicker energy transfer but less side-to-side flex. If you’re tackling big-mountain lines or scoring pow in the backcountry, go for a stiffer boot. If you’re spending the day jibbing and catching air in the park, choose a more flexible boot.

Typically, beginner to intermediate riders opt for more flexible boots, which offer more forgiveness and comfort, while advanced riders opt for stiffer boots, offering more ankle support for big lines and hard landings.

How do I know what level of a rider I am?

Trail ratings offer an easy metric to track your riding ability: if you’re mostly riding groomed greens and blues at the resort, you fall into the beginner to intermediate range. If you are riding the whole mountain with ease and consistently choosing blacks and double blacks in all conditions, you fall into the advanced range. Groomed versus natural terrain also offers an indicator of your riding ability: if you are drawn to chutes, couloirs, moguls, cliff drops, spines, and backcountry terrain... we probably don’t need to tell you that you’re advanced.

Can I use backcountry boots at the resort? Can I use resort boots in the backcountry?

Technically, yes, you can use backcountry resorts inbounds and vice versa. But the best boot for you is going to be the one that is designed for the terrain you’re actually riding. This is due to the stiffness and the features on each boot.

If you spend equal time in and out of bounds, you may opt for a boot designed for both. Vans makes boots specifically designed for versatility, such as the Aura Pro and the Hi-Country, which are suited for all terrain in the backcountry and on the mountain.

Are Vans snowboard boots heat moldable?

Yes, all Vans snowboard boots with liners are heat moldable.

All-mountain boots are your ticket to cruising groomers, tackling moguls, and flying down steeps. Features like Heat Retention 360 pack warmth for the lift ride up, while the neoprene and EVA liner wick sweat away while you’re working hard on the ride down.

All-Terrain snowboard boots are a step-up from all-mountain boots, offering the same versatility with stiffer flex, advanced features, and backcountry adaptability.

Boots like the Invado Pro, Aura Pro, and Infuse Snowsurf take the best aspects from groomed and ungroomed lines, giving you the freedom to design how your session feels. The Invado Pro, with stiffer flex, allows for bigger lines, with its V2 Waffle Pro Outsole offering sidecountry exploration potential. The Aura Pro offers a slightly softer intermediate-to-advanced level boot with a BOA fit system and the same V2 Waffle Pro Outsole. The Infuse Snowsurf is truly one-of-a-kind, with a stiff flex for advanced riders and big lines, offering an asymmetrical flex zone, BOA fit system, and V3 North Face FlashDry™ liner, with a design derived from the simplicity of mountain contours.
