Vans x Gallery Dept.: A Dialogue Between Art & Process
2025-03-24

Vans joins forces with Gallery Dept. for an exclusive collaboration through OTW by Vans on the Authentic 44. Drawing inspiration from the raw energy of a painter’s studio, every detail of this collaboration merges disruptive art with classic craftsmanship.
Each pair is designed with a meticulously hand-painted aesthetic. Paint drips cascade across the toe, while subtle grease marks add depth and texture to the vamp and sidewalls. The clean quarters and heel act as a blank canvas, allowing the unique artistry on the upper to take center stage.

Embracing the beauty of spontaneity and imperfection, this collection honors the creative process itself. The "Art That Kills" text wrapping the sidewall serves as a testament to the fearless, unapologetic nature of artistic expression.
The multidisciplinary artist Josué Thomas takes inspiration from his creative process to create a pair of shoes that are more than just footwear—they tell a story of artistic exploration and the power of individuality. “The serial reproduction is a new approach for me, but at its core, it’s still the same idea—art that moves transforms, and when it is worn, it becomes part of the wearer’s story,” says Josué.
Beginning March 27, 2025, the Vans x Gallery Dept. OTW Authentic 44 will retail for $150 USD at otw.vans.com and select OTW by Vans and Gallery Dept. retailers worldwide.
