Hot off the heels of the Old Skool, the Sk8-Hi was our first high-top. Originally called Style 38, it was designed for skateboarding with the higher upper adding ankle protection that reflected the ever-more-vertical nature of skateboarding in the late '70s.

This much-needed extra protection made the Sk8-Hi an instant favorite. Ramps, pools, and bowls were getting steeper, bigger, and gnarlier. And the pioneers of skateboarding were going faster and higher while trying much harder tricks.

As the Sk8-Hi evolved over the years, it remained one of our most popular skate silhouettes, but also grew into an icon in mainstream culture and fashion.

Sk8-Hi shoes feature eight eyelet lace rows. You can lace your Sk8-Hi shoes starting from the eyelets at the toes and crisscrossing your way up, or crisscross from underneath for a straight laced look.

For a roomier fit, select our wider variation, the Sk8-Hi Wide. This specialty shoe is great for wide feet, with a spacious platform featuring a 5 MM wider width and a 10 MM longer ball girth compared to regular width Sk8-Hi.

Are Sk8-Hi shoes good for weightlifting?

Sk8-Hi shoes can be used for weightlifting, but whether or not they work for you depends on personal preference. Sk8-Hi were originally designed for skateboarding and have been adopted for other uses. If you like additional ankle support and reinforced details, the Sk8-Hi shoes may work for you.

Are Sk8-Hi shoes waterproof?

The standard Sk8-Hi isn't waterproof, but it's made from durable canvas and leather. You can also spray your Sk8-Hi with protectant to help shield them from the elements. For true waterproof protection, check out the MTE Sk8-Hi version, designed with weather-resistant materials.
