Authentic

This is the heritage shoe that kicked it all off. First dropping as Style 44 in 1966, the Vans Authentic has been a staple worldwide ever since. With durable canvas uppers and new seasonal colorways, this legendary shoe keeps our founding spirit alive. Shop Authentic shoes.

Era

Launched in 1976 as Style 95, the Vans Era was designed by skate legends Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta. With a padded collar and fresh color combos, it quickly became the go-to shoe for skaters. It was also the first to rep the iconic Off The Wall heel tab, cementing its place in Vans history.

Old Skool

Dropping in 1977 as Vans Style 36, the Old Skool was the first to rock the now-famous Vans Sidestripe—what started as a random doodle by Paul Van Doren turned into our signature mark. These kicks were also the first to bring leather panels into the mix, boosting durability and making them an instant must-have for skaters. An icon from day one. Shop Old Skool shoes.

Classic Slip-On

First known as Vans Style 98, the Classic Slip-Ons dropped in 1977, thanks to skaters and BMX riders repping them hard. They blew up in Southern California and quickly became the go-to slip-on silhouette. Decades later, they're still a straight-up icon. Shop Classic Slip-On shoes

Sk8-Hi

Introduced in 1978 as Style 38, the Vans Sk8-Hi was the second shoe to sport the iconic Sidestripe. This high-top took skate functionality up a notch, offering extra ankle protection from rogue boards while bringing a fresh look to the park. A game-changer on and off the deck. Shop Sk8-Hi shoes.

How to clean classic Vans?

How you clean your Vans depends on the materials. For canvas shoes, you can throw them in the washing machine on a gentle, cold cycle. Just be sure to skip the dryer and let them air dry. For leather or synthetic leather Vans, wipe them down with a damp cloth. If they’re really dirty, add a little mild soap to the mix, but avoid soaking them. Keep your kicks fresh, and they'll last you for the long haul.

How to lace classic Vans?

Depending on which original Vans shoes you get, you may have from five eyelets to eight to lace up. You can cross lace them, bar lace them, or zipper lace them if you want to get fancy.

What is the most iconic Vans shoe?

The most iconic Vans shoe is the Authentic, first released in 1966 as Style 44. Timeless and straightforward, these kicks are the epitome of classic Vans—simple, versatile, and ready to go with anything.

The checkerboard pattern, often seen on Vans, has become a brand icon in its own right, symbolizing bold individuality and creativity.

Why are Vans so iconic?

Classic Vans have a timeless appeal that crosses generations and subcultures. From our first drop in 1966 to the iconic silhouettes of the '70s, and the athletic styles of the '80s, '90s, and beyond, Vans have been embraced by skaters, surfers, creatives, streetwear legends, and everyone in between.
