Who founded Vans Shoes?

Vans was founded in 1966 in Anaheim, California, by brothers Paul and Jim Van Doren, along with partners Gordon Lee and Serge Delia. What started as a small shop making and selling shoes right out of the factory became the “Off the Wall” brand rooted in skate culture and creativity.

What was the first Vans shoes?

The first Vans shoe was the Vans #44 Deck Shoe, now known as the Authentic. Released in 1966, it featured a simple canvas upper and our signature rubber waffle outsole, built for grip, adopted by skaters, and still an icon today.
