The Van Doren BMX Invitational Will Light Up Huntington Beach on August 1st and 3rd

Vans brings world class BMX competition back to Huntington Beach, CA this summer as part of the celebrated Van Doren Invitational bowl jam series at the 2014 Vans US Open. With $35,000 on the line, 40 of today’s most talented BMX riders will face off in one iconic, all-cement bowl on the beach before a live audience as the exciting competition hits the global stage live from the Vans Pro Bowl at www.vansusopenofsurfing.com August 1st and 3rd.

The invite-only bowl jam directed by BMX legend Dennis McCoy presents the world’s most diverse BMX talent ranging from street, park, dirt, vert and bowl, including reigning Van Doren Invitational BMX champion Daniel Sandoval, 2014 X-Games gold medalist Chase Hawk, Orange County locals Kris Fox and Dakota Roche, plus top riders such as Gary YoungDennis Enarson and many more. This year’s competition is highlighted by the return of the first-ever all cement bowl on the sand inspired by the original bowl riders' Mecca, the legendary Skatepark du Prado bowl in Marseilles, France.

BMX qualifiers for the Van Doren Invitational kick off Friday, August 1st at 11AM with finals beginning Sunday, August 3rd at 11:30AM at the Vans US Open of Surfing. In addition to the main event, the Van Doren Invitational upholds Vans storied heritage in BMX with the addition of a special Vans Classic BMX jam, a celebration of the past, present and future of BMX. Legendary riders from the first BMX Freestyle series, the King of Skateparks, return to session SoCal concrete along with their kids. Renowned riders that make up the judging panel and webcast crew will join them in the jam on Sunday, August 3rd at 10:30AM.
