Nathan Fletcher

The last name “Fletcher” in the surfing world leaves a size 20 pair of shoes waiting to be filled. Despite that pressure throughout childhood, Nathan continues to push big wave surfing to new levels. The most memorable moment will always be riding and surviving his historic Teahupo’o ride on the Code Red day of 2011. Two underrated facets of Nathan’s legacy are his influence in surfboard design—reviving the quad-fin design from complete irrelevance—as well as kickstarting the big wave paddle movement we know today.
