The Lux Leather SK8-Hi Reissue, the legendary Vans high top reissued with a vintage sensibility, features sturdy leather uppers, re-enforced toecaps to withstand repeated wear, padded collars for support and flexibility, and signature rubber waffle outsoles.
I thought Vans were better than this but NO. These shoes were described as BLACK, but in fact are very clearly BROWN, no black about it. On top of that, they are too thick to use as skater shoes anyway. My sons previous Vans, which I now apparently cannot get (though I would not know for sure since their customer support never responded), were thinner, nicer leather and lasted a long time. As opposed to the canvas shoes I get from Vans that might last a month for an active skater. I would NOT recommend these at all. And after this, I won't be buying Vans any longer
Service and delivery comments:
So I went on their website to CHAT which was an option given. But after chatting for 30 minutes about returning, trying to find out if they got the color wrong or if they have a better option, I was instructed to email Vans at their customer support email. Which I did. And I took the time to take several photos, which they asked that I do, to include in the email. which they said WAS NECESSARY. Not that necessary considering that I NEVER HEARD BACK from them. Thanks customer support, for dropping the ball and me being stuck with a pair of $70 Vans my child will never wear. Yay
Was this a gift?:
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Know what you're getting into when buying leather sneakers; overall, for me it was still worth it. As a longtime vans owner, I'm always stoked to see some of the mens shoes finally offered in "boys" sizes. (How about some smaller-size love for all the chicks who want to rock your boot styles, like sahara?!) The shoes are good quality, leather is nice, and I've already gotten loads of compliments on them. The caveat-- they're leather, so they're tough to break in. Tougher than I expected. The leather is so stiff that blisters were inevitable and even the top part of the shoe digs into the lower calf. Did I see that coming? To some extent. Is it worth it? Ultimately, yeah. These leather shoes look really nice and for me, it's worth throwing on some band-aids to wear these out. To reiterate the other reviews for any vans boot or hi-top vans: go 1/2 size down.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
