Brian Kachinsky

Brian Kachinsky, aka BK, is a smart and humble guy.

This University of Wisconsin graduate has a ton of energy and he always is funneling his positive vibes into his BMX riding or his entrepreneurial endeavors. He is the proud owner/operator of The Bakery, a private indoor BMX paradise, located near his home in Chicago. Brian joined the Vans team this year, 2014 and will be rocking Vans head to toe.

What’s your bike set-up?

DK team frame (21") with DK parts and Primo wheels. It’s light, strong, simple, fast and brakeless.

What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on?

China and Russia are always an adventure but any trip anywhere is fun when you have awesome people with you. 

What is the best story you’ve ever heard or been told?

I’ve heard  a few but promised not to repeat them.

What trick can’t you do that you wish you could?

I wish I could do good turndowns and lookbacks. I have done them but they look gross. Can someone give me lessons?

What’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to you?

Losing loved ones is always the worst but it also makes you appreciate the important people you have in your life.

What are some interests outside of bmx?

I love traveling and experiencing new cultures. Meeting new people and seeing new places is a passion of mine.

Last good book you read or magazine you looked at?

I’m currently reading “Lost on Planet China” and it’s pretty hilarious because I can relate to a lot of it from personal experience.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself smarter and well traveled. I also see myself producing more events, skateparks and other things that help BMX grow. Most of all I see myself having fun and enjoying every day. I try to live in the present without dwelling on the past but always preparing for a bright future.
