As a champion of creative expression, Vans is excited for our latest collaboration with Canadian surfer and Vans family member Hanna Scott. Hanna’s ability to navigate the ever-changing cold-water weather conditions at her native Tofino, British Columbia home breaks is second only to her covetable, progressive surf style and creative pursuits that transcend beyond surfing, ranging from art, design, and music. For her latest collection with Vans, Hanna drew inspiration from cold-weather destinations and her own original watercolor paintings to create a head-to-toe look that’s functional and provides style and comfort in sub-degree temps.
Growing up in Victoria, British Columbia, Hanna Scott is no stranger to cold weather and colder surf. Orcas in the lineup? Check. Sub-50-degree water temps? All day. While these things might make the average surfer think twice, Hanna draws inspiration from them and channels that energy into her surfing and other creative outlets. This ability to adapt and thrive in a variety of conditions has shaped her into a formidable competitor, snagging podium finishes from 2014 to 2017 at Queen of the Peak, a prestigious women-only event at her home break in Tofino. With her original style and graceful execution on a board, as well as an eye for eclectic art and design, Hanna is poised to continue pushing surfing further into the future. Her latest Vans collection is a direct reflection of that powerful creativity combined with everyday function.
