  The BOA Fit System is composed of three components: a micro-adjustable dial, strong, lightweight laces, and low-friction lace guides allowing the lace to glide smoothly for evenly distributed pressure. BOA offers a faster, more convenient, and more adjustable method of lacing compared to traditional laces.

   

  The only major downside to BOA technology is the cost of maintaining this technology. If your BOA system becomes damaged, you will need to move indoors to repair it. • Instep Flex Zone: Instep Flex Zone maintains the natural ankle flexion in your boot, even while strapped into your bindings.

• Heat Retention 360°: Our Heat Retention 360° uses a layer of 200g insulation over the toes so they stay warm even during the coldest temps. With a liner material of neoprene and EVA, moisture is wicked away from the foot.

Do Vans snowboard boots run big or small?

Vans snowboard boots are designed for a performance fit. Their initial fit will feel small, but as the liner molds to your foot they will be true to size.  

How should snowboard boots fit?

Snowboard boots should be snug, but not so tight that they hurt. Also, don’t judge the fit of your boots by your first entry—snowboard boots take a couple days to pack out and adapt to your feet. Your ideal boot should hold your heel in place with a little room for your toes. When you put pressure on the tongue of your boot, your heel should stay down (think about applying pressure during turns).

What is the difference between men’s and women’s snowboard boots?

The main difference between men’s and women’s snowboard boots is the cuff height, the width, and the flex. Men’s calf muscles tend to be higher, resulting in a higher, wider cuff to accommodate their anatomy.

When should kids move up to an adult boot?

Kids should move to an adult boot when their feet are too big for the largest kids’ size, their ability exceeds the flex level offered by the boot, and their bindings are compatible with adult boots.  

What do snowboard boots flex ratings mean?

Flex ratings indicate boot stiffness: how much support your boot offers and how quickly energy transfers from your body to your board. A low flex rating means a more flexible boot, and a higher flex rating indicates a stiffer boot.

Flexible snowboard boots are designed for freestyle riding in the park, with more mobility for tricks, but have less energy transferred to your feet and legs when landing or tackling choppy conditions. Stiffer snowboard boots provide more stability and control for faster, steeper, more aggressive riding and offer quicker energy transfer but less side-to-side flex. If you’re tackling big-mountain lines or scoring pow in the backcountry, go for a stiffer boot. If you’re spending the day jibbing and catching air in the park, choose a more flexible boot.

Typically, beginner to intermediate riders opt for more flexible boots, which offer more forgiveness and comfort, while advanced riders opt for stiffer boots, offering more ankle support for big lines and hard landings.  

How do I know what level of a rider I am?

Trail ratings offer an easy metric to track your riding ability: if you’re mostly riding groomed greens and blues at the resort, you fall into the beginner to intermediate range. If you are riding the whole mountain with ease and consistently choosing blacks and double blacks in all conditions, you fall into the advanced range. Groomed versus natural terrain also offers an indicator of your riding ability: if you are drawn to chutes, couloirs, moguls, cliff drops, spines, and backcountry terrain... we probably don’t need to tell you that you’re advanced.  

Can I use backcountry boots at the resort? Can I use resort boots in the backcountry?

Technically, yes, you can use backcountry resorts inbounds and vice versa. But the best boot for you is going to be the one that is designed for the terrain you’re actually riding. This is due to the stiffness and the features on each boot.
