The 2014 Vans House Parties Come to an End
After six raucous shows, the fourth-annual Vans House Parties wrapped their 2014 series last Thursday, August 14th at The House of Vans in Brooklyn. For the final show of the season, the Vans House Parties paid tribute to New York, with a celebratory set from New York hometown heroes Holy Ghost! and Kim Ann Foxman with Philadelphia's Dave P opening.
The free, all-ages music series, hosted by Vans in partnership with FYF, presented an eclectic mix of performers to enthusiastic Brooklyn crowds, ranging from the goofball pop of Mac DeMarco to the fiery intensity of Syrian singer Omar Souleyman. Along the way, Future Islands swaggered through their much anticipated set, Charles Bradley turned the House of Vans into a soul revival, and punk legends Gorilla Biscuits and The Bouncing Souls brought House of Vans back to its punk rock roots.
Vans House Parties are a cornerstone of New York’s summer concert landscape, with shows selling out within hours of their announcement. All shows are free with RSVP, open to the public of all ages and held at the House of Vans (25 Franklin St.), a 25,000 square foot renovated warehouse in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. Special thanks to truth® and Shiner Beer for their support of the Vans House Parties throughout the summer.
