TIM KERR
BIO:
I grew up surfing on the texas gulf coast (yes there are waves in texas!) and thats why i skated. i skated during the "original" days and on into "old school" "mid school" whatever you want to call it school. i started playing guitar in elementary school and doing some sort of art as long as i can remember. Music, art, skating, surfing are all the same thing to me ... self expression .... And for that matter, breathing/life, is self expression. The first official band i was in was the big boys (1978) .... And from then til now? poison 13, bad mutha goose, jack o fire, lord high fixers, king sound quartet, now time delegation, monkeywrench, total sound group direct action committee.... etc.... I have helped bands here and in other countries record their records since the late 80s and at this point the number of bands (my extended family) has grown way into the 100s. i am living proof that you do not know what will happen nex As far as publicly showing art other than flyers for shows (which you can see some in the book f**ked up and foto copied), flyers making statements, and record covers and adds in fanzines, that really started around 2001. I have been involved in group and solo shows here in the States and Europe along with an Ireland residency with Void Gallery in Derry .A lot of people seem to know me and a whole lot more don’t , but my question to you is .... Does it really matter who a person is or what they have done in their past when it comes to self expression? You should use whatever of your 5 senses that you can to confront or ignore what is in front of you because that is what it is all about ... YOU.... and your reaction." "history is his story" - sun ra "what are you doing to participate!?" - tim Vans Memory: My Vans memory is more of an observation. Before Fast Times At Ridgemont High, if you saw someone in Vans (and I can only speak of outside california) you KNEW that they skated. After that movie I had to start asking ... Do you skate? Or are you just wearing those shoes. Web link: www.timkerr.net |
