BIO:
Eric Elms was born in 1980 San Diego where he was heavily influenced by all the skate and sub-cultures surrounding him growing up. In the late 90’s he moved to NYC to study graphic design. After leaving school he worked as designer for Supreme and has gone on to work for companies such as Nike, Panasonic, Stussy, Weiden + Kennedy, Undefeated, Silly Thing, Huge Magazine among others. Eric now runs a design studio called WeAreAdorn in Brooklyn NY. His work is a reflection of his influences growing up in California clashing with his experiences in NY. He has had solo and group shows in Tokyo, Australia, NYC, and Paris. Vans Memory: When I look back on my life there are very few things that are consistent throughout. Vans are one of those things. Other styles always came in and out of my life, but that one constant always brought back the classic Vans. If I kept all those beat-up pairs from my life it would probably give me a pretty good timeline into what trouble I was getting into at that point. Depending on where the tears were or what the stains were made of. Inspiration: The logo is so iconic I wanted to build it out in 3D to give it a life of its own separate from what we are so familiar with. I liked the clash of soft and fun textures with a more hand-built sturdy feel. Link: weareadorn.com |
