Writing graffiti and
skateboarding, going to galleries, and museums at a young
age with his artistic mother, Shawn started taking his
images and putting them on walls all over California leading
him into the design and art world he enjoys today. His
graffiti can be seen all over the streets and train yards
of San Francisco.
One of Shawn’s inspirations is NOT working 9 to
5, and his mother has had a huge influence in his life
teaching him everything she knew passing on her artful
wisdom and knowledge.
Though he enjoys DIY and hand-crafted projects, such as
painting all of the hats he sells and hand silkscreening
his stickers, he currently outsources his t-shirt printing,
because he doesn’t have time to screenprint 200-300
at a time by hand.
He sells his work in stores, galleries, and toy stores
worldwide. "People know I work hard, and they know
I put my all into this [his art]. To many people, it's
a hobby or a fad, to me this is my way of life and how
I pay my bills and feed my family."
Asking him what his greatest accomplishment is, Shawn
states:
"Waking up everyday with a beautiful girlfriend and
cat, and being able to doodle, draw and paint all day."
He recently teamed up with Monkeyhouse Toys in LA for
a as-yet-disclosed project, and has some upcoming solo
shows: one in Los Angeles at Bent Gallery and another
in New York at Troy Denning Invisible NYC Gallery in 2008.
In the coming months, he'll be releasing some new, limited-edition
t-shirts,Zines,Prints, as well as his first book of works
on and off the streets... and, in between, staying busy
and enjoying life every day.
