Alex Knost

Alex Knost has been experimenting with surfing’s subculture for over a decade, immersing himself in ‘60s and ‘70s surfboard design and a wide range of artistic mediums.

He has  traveled internationally, creating and exhibiting work in the form of paintings, films and photography, and has recorded and toured with his now-defunct “pop rock group,” Japanese Motors – a band since replaced by his current group, Tomorrows Tulips, referred to as “lo-fi, minimal, experimental psychedelia” by L.A. Record Magazine. In 2011, after a year spent shaping his own boards, Alex founded his own surfboard label, Brown Microwave Television. He currently continues to create and ride his self-made surfboards, as well as experiment with “outdated or often disregarded” designs.
