Alana Blanchard Wins Womens Reef Hawaiian Pro!

The Vans Hawaiian Pro went smoothly today for the women's competition. 19 year old Alana Blanchard came out on top, alongside Stephanie Gilmore in 2nd, Sofia Mulanovich in 3rd and Rebecca Woods in 4th (whom in the semi-finals shared a wave with a fish) The waves seemed to be getting smaller throughout the day, but hopefully we'll get a surge tonight and we can run the mens in the morning.

Skate Day with John John & Ivan Florence

On any given day that the north shore is flat, you can find a handful of green room experts shredding the skate park. Heres a short clip of John John and Ivan taking some runs at the Banzai Rock Skate Park on the North Shore.

Hill of Escape - Pu'u O Mahuka Heiau

Wrapping up our second lay day here on the north shore. Here's a look at this evenings sunset overlooking Waimea Bay in Pupukea. This well-preserved heiau (temple) is the largest on O'ahu covering over 5-acres and consisting of three adjoining enclosures measuring 575 feet by 170 feet. This was considered a powerful place for the kahuna and one of two places where wives of the ancient chiefs gave birth.

Day 2: Stop in at the Gudauskas house!

Pat G called up last night and asked if we could stop at foodland and pick up some ketchup and mustard for them. So Graham Nash and I helped the boys out and stopped in at foodland, then swung by for a tour of their house and a game of pool (on their official Bud Light regulation size pool table). Dylan Graves is shacked up with all 3 G-bros as well.

2009 ASP Title

This Just in! We've just received word that the 2009 ASP Title will be decided at the Vans Triple Crown Pipeline Masters! This hasn't happened since 2006. Super exciting news as this is probably everyones favorite event. Pipe breaks so close to the shore, making it perfect for spectators on the beach. Pipe might be a little more crowded on the sand this year.
