The Herringbone Bali SF, a laidback slip-on loafer, gets an upgrade with the Vans Surf SF build. Made with herringbone textile uppers and water-based inks and glues, the Bali SF also features the new molded-heel UltraCush sockliners for upgraded breathability, and classic waffle rubber outsoles with single-wrapped foxing tape for lightweight comfort.

These are so comfortable I don't know where to start. Ok, the checkerboard Ultracush insole - massages and lets your feet breathe at the same time. You can walk in these forever. The inside lining acts as a sockette, seems to reduce foot sweat - not getting typical foot odor after a day's wear - very impressed. The wider toebox fits my Fred Flinstone toes nicely. I did go a size smaller because it fit fairly loose around the heel and was flopping - these half size smaller fit perfect and they have stretched slightly for max comfort fit.

I bought a half size smaller than I would have due to more reviewers than not claiming that these Bali SFs run big. Turns out I was wrong in trusting them. I have small but flat feet so to be frank I never really feel comfortable with relying on others' reviews. Should've stuck with my gut. They run small for my foot type i.e. flat and more wide than long. Also, the pictures are deceiving. They are quite tacky in person. I got the dress blues color. I like the insole though. Vans should make this insole their standard one. This was my first go at a slip on shoe. I'm going to look elsewhere.
The Vans men's Bali shoes are the real deal. There was barely any break-in time and the foot-bed on these guys are extremely comfortable. I wear these every day, almost always barefoot. The Bali's are very breathable and offer your feet cool comfort as so they do not sweat. As for a barefoot everyday shoe this one is the best for the price and got to love the ease of putting them on and kicking them off.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Here are my issues with this year's Bali's: 1. Size is not the standard Vans 10. I got last year's Bali and the size has changed in this year's model. 2. Stitching top of the foot flap eating into my foot. This is probably a defect just in mine, but it cut into my skin. I now wear socks with these (which also helps with the size increase ... but kinda defeats the point of getting Bali Vans). 3. 20% price increase. Not sure if these are that much "better" than the previous year to justify the price increase. Plus, they got rid of the "blue" color I liked.
