Music Heavy Weights Tear Down House of Vans at the Mohawk

Posted 03/14/2013 04:14:19 by Kelly

Vans kicked off four days of non-stop music with the curtain drawing on the House of Vans at the Mohawk in Austin on Wednesday with the Vans SXSW Showcase presented by Fat Possum Records. Iggy and the Stooges, Ghostface Killah, The Specials, Japandroids, Middle Class Rut and Sky Ferreira made for a blistering mix of hip hop, ska, punk rock, indie and synth-pop.

The day started with Pitchfork’s Show No Mercy metal showcase going full tilt on both the indoor and outdoor stages, while industry heavyweights such as The Stooges, The Specials, Thurston Moore and Sam Speigel made visits to Vans’ gifting suite to pick up some goods.

The House of Vans at the Mohawk runs March 13-16 at the Mohawk at 912 Red River St. (at 10th Ave.) Music fans get a range of acts from indie to metal to both throwback and underground hip hop from presenters Pitchfork, Anticon, Fat Possum Records, IAMSOUND/MFG, Paradigm, The Windish Agency, Ground Control Touring, A.V. Club & Flowerbooking and True Panther x Terrible Records over the next three days.

Catch the daily LIVE webcasts powered by Seagate, photos and behind-the-scenes exclusives and performance videos at vans.com/sxsw.

House of Vans at the Mohawk is made possible in part by truth®, the nation’s largest youth smoking prevention campaign, and Seagate storage products, a canvas for today's creatives.
