The world waits for the Banzai Pipeline to reawaken. Competition has been called off for a third consecutive day at the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing hydrated by vitaminwater Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons, with small waves on offer again at Pipeline. As we wait in anticipation, check out new videos, the Interactive Map of the North Shore and tons more to keep you stoked for the upcoming finals.
Stop No. 10 of 10 on the ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), the Billabong Pipe Masters is set to host a dramatic finish to the ASP Top 34 season, with current rankings frontrunner Joel Parkinson (AUS), 31, and reigning 11-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (USA), 40, battling for the crown.
“The surf is still small here at Pipeline so there will be no competition again today,” Marty Thomas, Vans Triple Crown Contest Director said. “The new swell on the horizon is materializing nicely for a restart to competition on Friday, but we’ll still return tomorrow morning to make another call.”
Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 6:30am to assess conditions for a possible 8am start.
Surfline, official forecasters for the Billabong Pipe Masters, are calling for:
Minor NW swell continues Wednesday. A good size NW swell will build in and be strongest Friday, after slowly filling in Thursday. Strong and gusty ENE trades continue for the next several days.
When Billabong Pipe Masters competition resumes Gabriel Medina (BRA), 18, Josh Kerr (AUS), 27, and Kelly Slater (USA), 40, will take to the water first in Heat 3 of Round 4.
