The 7th Annual Vans Pier Classic presented by Jack’s Surfboards and hydrated by vitaminwater returns to iconic Huntington Beach pier Wednesday, March 28th through Sunday, April 1st with surfing’s top names competing for valuable ratings points and part of a $115,000 total purse! Upgraded to an ASP 4-Star last year, the Vans Pier Classic will once again host a handful of rising talent including Vans surfers Tanner Gudauskas (men's top seed), Jason
“Ratboy” Collins, Nathan Florence, Andrew Doheny, Ivan Florence and Brogie Panesi. The Vans Pier Classic is the first ASP North America Men’s event of the year and the Vans Pro Junior is the second ASP North America Pro Junior contest of 2012.
Running in conjunction with the men’s main event will be the ASP 4-Star Vans Pro Junior, drawing some of the nation’s best under-21 competitors looking for qualification points toward the ASP World Junior Tour. San Clemente's Kolohe Andino took a clean sweep of both Vans Pier Classic and the Vans Pro Junior in 2011, as he kicked off a season that saw him win several other contests and secure a rookie spot on the ASP World Tour.
"Working with Jack's to build this contest over the past seven years has provided American professional and junior surfers with valuable ratings points close to home," says Vans' VP of Marketing Doug Palladini. "It's an honor for heritage surfing brands such as Vans and Jack's to give back like this."
Those who can't make it to the contest can watch a live webcast of the entire event at vans.com/pierclassic. The live HD webcast will feature daily highlights, professional commentary along with photos and contest updates.
The Vans Pier Classic presented by Jack’s Surfboards and hydrated by vitaminwater is made possible by the support of Skull Candy, Body Glove, Oakley, Clif Bar and Verizon.
