Everyone came out to the parks on Friday, February 4th for the monthly best trick contest. In Orlando they threw down a pyramid jam in an Egyptian theme, and at The Block it was the mighty step down hubba that flexed it's might. Click Read The Rest to get the whole scoop, and don't forget to stop by either of the parks on the first Friday of every month @ 7pm to join in. Winner takes home a pair of Vans and gets a spot on the monthly winner's plaque.

Ever heard the saying "Walk like an Egyptian"? Well tonight was the night everyone skated like an Egyptian. Tonight we held our best trick contest on the Pyramid in the main street course. And let me be the first to say, tonight was a doozy. When the jams got pumping, so did the skating! Kanaan Dern, hometown hero #1, jump started the contest with a huge frontside 180 over the pyramid to flat! Also, Kanaan busted a huge kickflip to flat. There are only a few brave souls that can skate the pyramid to flat and Kanaan is one of them. Flying in next was Brian Ortiz, hometown hero #2. Brian, killing it so hard with alley-oop frontside and backside flips on the hip. Making all the girls scream, he spun a huge backside 360 over the pyramid...murder, she wrote! Brian Upapong, hometown hero #3, landing his very first backside flip over the pyramid, tonight. Big ups to Brian. Now this next skater is one of the few brave souls that can skate the pyramid to flat. Josue Sanchez, hometown hero #4, crushing the competition tonight with a huge pop shuv-it tail grab to flat! And with the sound of the crowd, they made the obvious decision of Josue taking this month's best trick contest! Congratulations to Josue for winning his very first best trick contest here at the Vans Skatepark Orlando. So to all my mummies out there, keep it real and we will see you all next month when we are dropping in on the Vert Ramp.

This month's best trick was intense. The energy from the skaters was great! We had a lot of big tricks go down and some even bigger falls. To get things started Andrew Pena was trying gap to board the other side of the hubba. Justin Drysen was going for lip slide bs 270 out, which takes a lot of discipline. Previous winner Brian Abraham had to show his stuff and threw a sick nollie noseslide to 270 out. Tyler Thompson force all these harder tricks out early on by landing Kick flip back 5-0 second try! Even with all the tricks going down, Alex Tenneson and a new addition to our best trick Devin were trying to steal it away from Tyler. Alex did a sweet blunt slide and Devin pulled a tre flip 50-50. Everyone thought it was over when the tre 50-50 went down. Tyler wasn't going to have someone take those shoes right from underneath him. He went big and fell a few times hard, but won the pair of shoes with a clean back tail. It was a well deserved win.
