Joel Tudor Duct Tape Invitational Coming to Santa Cruz

Join Vans on Friday, January 14 and Saturday, January 15 at legendary Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz, CA to see 16 of the best longboarders in the world vie for their piece of a $10,000 purse in the Joel Tudor Duct Tape Invitational. Riding single fin logs, the surfers will not be hampered by interference calls, but instead encouraged to split peaks for the best shared waves throughout the contest for additional prize money.
Vans will also have a special legends round prior to finals featuring Joel Tudor, Herbie Fletcher, Nat Young, Michael Junod and Tyler Hatzikian.
Introduced in August at the East Coast Surfing Championships in Virginia Beach, the Duct Tape Invitational is an innovative new event Vans developed with Joel Tudor that showcases longboarding in its purest aesthetic and pushes the envelope on how longboarding is typically viewed.
Expected Riders include:
Harrison Roach, Chris Del Moro , Jared Mell, Jason “Ratboy” Collins, Alex Knost, Justin Quintal (winner of 2010 ECSC and Montauk Duct Tape Invitational), Christian Wach, Dane Peterson, Chad Marshall, Jen Smith, Tyler Warren, Mikey DeTemple, CJ Nelson, Robbie Kegel, JJ Wassels, Ryan Burtch, Troy Elmore (1st Alternate) Nathan Adams (2nd Alt) and Scotty Stopnik (3rd Alt)
