The Vans parks knocked out their final Best Trick contest for 2010 last week. The Orlando, FL park threw down a pool party and The Block in Orange, CA unveiled a mystery obstacle. Read the rest to see what went down at each park and find out who took home free shoes. Make sure to stop by either park next year at 7pm on the first Friday of every month to show us what you've got.

Surf's up, Brah! We hosted our final Best Trick Contest of the year in the pool and we had a full on party! We threw on some good tunes and let the skaters dive right on in. The water was warm for this time of the year because everyone killed it all through 2010. If you weren't throwing down the best moves, you were wearing the beach attire and having a blast. Starting the party off strong, we had little Christian Frazier tossing some mean front-side airs in the deep end and even a board slide around the baby hip in the shallow end. Splashing in the deep end was local Daniel, aka "Front-side King", busting a laid back front-side 5-0 to revert. Killer moves dude! Flying in with a cannon ball was Anthony Benante spinning a mean front-side 360 in the deep end. Keeping it safe with the water wings was Austin Keatin with a huge backside air over the deep end hip. And finishing the party off was our golden boy Dylan Usma. Dylan threw down some major maneuvers...just to name a few: tail slide, lean to tail, crail slide, and perfect front disasters. Dylan catching a massive wave all the way to the deep end to wrap up the night with a blunt to fakie. Congrats to 12-year-old Dylan for making the trophy board for the first time and being the youngest skater to be crowned a Vans Skatepark best trick winner. A huge thanks to Melissa Lane for hooking up the party supplies and to all that came out to enjoy our pool party. Be sure to check out the video and pictures from the party if you missed it, and we will see everyone in 2011!

We here at the Block have been putting hours of work into a beautiful 3-foot spine for the December best trick. After a few bumps in the road and Lowe's hardware lagging we finally completed our baby. We finished the spine up and put it into place the day before the contest and did the finishing touches throughout the night. With 8 riders signed up and 2 late entries just skating it for fun, it turned out to be a great jam session. One thing we loved about this month's contest was that we had competitors age ranging from 6-18 years old with the 6 year olds still holding their own. Some tricks we saw this evening were; blunt stall tail stall revert (Riley Greer) axle stalls, hand plants (Shane Allison) blunt rock fakie smith revert (Brian Abraham). After the first 5 minutes you could tell who it was going to come down to...Brian Abraham and Shane Allison. Brian was pulling everything out for this one, making sure it was known that he owns this park. Shane was fighting back letting Brian know that he is not the only local ripper. Ten minutes in Brian pulled out a 360 flip switch front rock revert on the new spine. Everyone knew it was on...Shane then was trying to answer back and with his final try he pulled off his fakie full cab transfer! After a couple minutes the judges finally came up with the decision to give the final Best Trick of 2010 to Brian Abraham. Brian brought his tech street skill to the transition and it paid off. Another free pair of shoes for Brian and another notch on his belt. See everyone in 2011!
