Both Vans Skate Parks in Orlando, FL and Orange, CA rocked their monthly best trick contests last week. Some serious skating went down and two skaters went home with new Vans shoes and a spot on the monthly winner's plaque. Read the rest to see what went down at each park, and don't forget to join us on the first Friday of every month at 7pm.

Tonight was our October best trick contest on one of my favorite obstacles in the park. The luggage belt manual pad is always a spot for super tech and creative tricks to go down, and tonight was no exception! The skaters started out strong, fighting for time on the manual pad. Two skaters stood out from all the rest, Justin Drysen and Chris Chavarria...Chris took out a lot of people early with 3 to 4 trick combos in one, nose manual, smith, nose manual, shuv out. Justin was right there with him towards the end going for a nose manual smith nollie shuv manual kickflip out, but couldn't nail the kickflip. There was a pretty good cheering crowd for Chris the whole time, and he ended up taking it with Nose manual front-side smith to lip back to nose manual front-side 180 out. All the kids were super stoked to see him win they even put him up on their shoulders in front of the monthly winner's plaque. See you next month!

Badda Bing, Badda Boom...another Best Trick Contest in the books! Tonight we wrapped up our 52nd Best Trick Contest on our Main Street Course Step-Up. I can't believe we have done 52 contests over the last 4 years! First local up is Joey Gonzalez with a switch kickflip first try! Next local up is Brian Upapong with a perfect kickflip to one foot roll away...the judges always love creativity! We are just going to fast forward a couple more kickflips to little Aaron "Young Guns" Depaulis throwing an indy, mute, melon and nosegrab all first try! Aaron being the youngest competitor that we have seen for a while at a whopping 9 years of age...keep skating buddy! Now it boils down to Joey and shredder, Brian Ortiz. Joey was going for a fakie 360 flip up the step up while Brian was going for a hardflip 180. Brian landed his first and followed it up with a hardflip indy! So impressive, the judges loved it and therefore crowned Brian this month's best trick winner! Congrats, Brian and we will see everyone next month when we hit the outdoor course and take everyone's best trick to the 10 stair. Get ready and we will see you there!
