UPDATE: Ladies Division Finals

Posted 05/16/2009 04:15:00 by i am vans

In the first heat of the Ladies' finals Julie Kindstrand led the charge right out of the gate, first in, and obviously the fore-runner in this heat. Her local knowledge of this pool always puts her in the running for a top spot. Lea Taylor and Erin Wolfkiel followed Julie closely, but perhaps the true stand-out in the first heat was young Priscilla Lee. Priscilla may not throw a lot of tricks around, the standard airs apply, but her runs consisting of several walls of switch grinds and fakies to Smith in the shallows made her a true stand-out. Elizabeth Armanto also shined with some delicate and fluent lip work in the square bowl. Julie came in and ate up the last seconds of the jam with a layback roll-out through the corner and the horns blasted.

The second heat of the Ladies division looked to be the premiere heat on paper with veteran Cara-Beth Burnside, long time shredder Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins, and ripper Megan Brown. Unfortunately Cara-Beth decided to sit this one out. Megan Brown started pulling out the double corner carves, crail slides, corner airs, inverts, and other assorted mayhem. Alex Harper brought out a heavy duty attack in full tie-dye fashion. Alex's runs were solid and she mixed up speed lines with airs and lapped over grinds. Lyn-Z turned it on in the final minutes and

Julie Kindstrand is looking like the front runner. Megan Brown is in there, Lyn-Z and Priscilla too. Stay tuned for the final results later in the day.
