Congratulations to the winners that each took home 12 pair of Vans.
Vans Skatepark Orlando, FL
1st Place Ages 14 +: Aaron Collier
1st Place Ages 6 - 13: Eric Testerman
Vans Skatepark The Block @ Orange, CA
1st Place Ages 14+: Tyler Thompson
1st Place Ages 6 - 13: Chris Joslin
For a taste of the action in Orlando, here a small excerpt from a recap written by local park employee Tyler Peters...
"The 13 and under division was a little slow starting off, and if half-cabs and shuvits were seeds we could have grown a forest. I think Eric Testerman (the grom who ended up winning this division) is not a human but in fact a robot which is programmed to do every flip trick in the book. Literally. I believe he only got three letters all day, and all three were in the final game! The 14 and up division was obviously a little more competitive and it could have gone any way, but in the long run it was Sanford local Aaron Collier who blew out the candles and stole the birthday cake. His final opponent (this dude Devin Cain who came all the way down from Wisconsin and was originally a backup) gave Collier a serious run. A few tricks that came out included a switch backside flip, switch frontside 360, and nollie big-heel so beautiful that I would have married it and started a family of nollie little-heels".
Over at The Block @ Orange, park employee Craig Ogata had this to say...
"I was surprised at the kids I have never seen here before. Tim Tang and Julian Hernandez went for the full 10 minutes with Tim hardflipping to victory in over time, Frankie Villian and Quinn Shaugnessy doing every shove-it variation with Frankie taking it. Another 6-13 stand-out was Chris Joslin eliminating his opponent in five straight tricks. Round 2, 6-13 went by really quick with Chris Joslin, Frankie Villian, Brandon Gonzalez, Anthony Carrillo, Brandon Guzman and Jack Knight all advancing to the semi final round. The semi's were really good with Chris Joslin schooling his competitors with hardflips regular and switch , Brandon Gonzalez taking out Anthony Carrillo with double flips and double heels and Brandon Guzman taking Jack Knight out with pressure flips. The 14 and over crew was cut throat and went by really quick, most of the matches only lasted on an average of 3 minutes. Stand outs were Mark Burnette, James Breese, Jeremy Ponce and Jake Elliot, but in the end Tyler Thompson took the 14 and older."
