Slopestyle Recap

Posted 03/03/2007 05:49:00 by i am vans

The women took to the course in the morning hours, but they didn't need any help waking up. Rome's Marie-France Roy came out charging hard, keeping her runs clean and simple all day, earning third place. Last year’s Slopestyle champion Jamie Anderson’s smooth style earned her the second spot on stage, while Vans team rider Hana Beaman took first with her explosive backside sevens on the step-up jump, while taking apart the rail lines on the course. The men's heat was one of the most anticipated events of the 2007 Vans Cup. Every guy came out swinging, but some went down hard. Grenade General Danny Kass was one of the favorites going into the finals and he didn't disappoint his fans. His crazy combos on the jumps nabbed him a third place finish. Flow team rider Scotty Lago killed it all day with tricks like backside nines followed up by massive backside rodeos. For his efforts, he was awarded second. Andreas Wiig is nearly unstoppable this year. Fresh from two Winter X-Games gold medals, Wiig took the number one spot with huge frontside 1080’s and super clean rail lines. Be sure to head up to the dude tube tomorrow for the men's and women's halfpipe finals, because the riders are pumped and the pipe looks great. It's sure to be a great ender to a totally X-TREME weekend!
