Come out to the House of Vans in Brooklyn, NY this Saturday, March 9th for a one-of-a-kind Dennis McNett event. The event entails an interactive performance orchestrated by Dennis McNett and Wolfbat Studios of The Wolfbat Tribe slaying the demons and storm surge sent by the gods through hurricane Sandy. Band performances, DJ and you never know what else can happen from 8pm-12am.
We are pleased to invite you to the grand opening of a “Shop in Shop” presented by Vans and Blends. The two have teamed up to open a one of kind in store experience in Blends San Diego, CA solely dedicated to the different lifestyles of Vans from Classics, California Collection, OTW and Vault. This special project will run through March 8th until the end of August. So, please join us Friday March 8th at Blends San Diego from 6pm-9pm. There will be an art showcase by Taka Hayashi, hosted beverages, music and much more.
The 2013 Vans Amateur Combi Pool Party took place this weekend at the Vans Skatepark at The Outlets in Orange. Over 40 amateur skaters attended, battling it out for their piece of a $10,000 prize purse. Featuring two divisions, 14 and under and 15 and over, finalists were selected for their exceptional combi pool skills, pulling off massive airs and impressive runs comparable to their professional counterparts.
Legends Ghostface Killah, The Specials and Iggy and the Stooges and rising stars Japandroids join Middle Class Rut and Sky Ferreira in a raucous riot of hip hop, ska, punk rock, indie and synth-pop that is the must-see SXSW Music Festival lineup and coming live from House of Vans at the Mohawk on March 13th.
From Robin Kegal’s creative mind come the designs of Gato Heroi and Freak Waive. Known the world over for his “on-location” approach and one-of-a-kind, eclectic craftsmanship of longboards, flight bags, and all things surf, Vans takes a backseat and lets Robin drive on this one. For the last 20 years O’Meally has travelled the globe documenting some of the world’s most prolific skateboarders. His exhibition ‘Mike O’Meally: Skate Photos 1993 -2013’ is a selection of images taken from his extensive archive of skate photography.
With Vans’ deep roots in music and heritage as the original skate shoe maker, it only makes sense to work with a band as influential to action sports and youth culture as Metallica. For spring 2013, Metallica, one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time, collaborates with Vans on a footwear capsule consisting of a Sk8-Hi and Slip-On, each inspired with artwork from their debut studio album, Kill ‘Em All. A proud moment in skateboarding came to fruition last night as Vans co-founder Steve Van Doren accepted the Eric Stricker Memorial Award at the 15th Annual TransWorld SKATEboarding Awards held in Hollywood, CA. TransWorld SKATEboarding honors Van Doren for his passionate contributions to skateboarding and his life long devotion to support the skateboarding community as a whole. Vans is equally proud to congratulate Vans team rider Gilbert Crockett for his exciting win as Best Rookie.
The CCS Lurkathon presented by Vans is back! For one day only, Saturday March 2nd, ten of the best skateparks from around the country will be holding all day shred sessions that will include product tosses, raffles and best trick contests. Skateparks in California, Washington, New Jersey, Illinois, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Oregon, Michigan, Minnesota and Maine will all be participating. See you on Saturday!
