Amidst the Olympic fever of Summer 2012, we ventured to Athens, where economic uncertainty fermented an apprehensive disquiet. Exploring the legacy of the 2000 Olympic Games seemed apt. We reconnoitered the Olympic Village for uncharted skate spots, the promise of the Kayak Centre's endless banks never fully realized thanks to unrelenting police scrutiny. Each year, we ask some of our favorite artists, designers, celebrities, athletes and tastemakers to design a pair of blank canvas Vans, no restrictions whatsoever, to inspire the high school students participating in the competition. This year, we had a sweet new crop of ambassadors, from John Baldessari to Emma Roberts and many more. Our friend, Robert Trujillo from Metallica sat down to talk about the new Vans Damage Inc. Stage and Vert Ramp at the Orion Music Festival going down June 8th and 9th in Detroit. This year, you can watch pro riders tear up the 30-foot wide Vert Ramp while live bands and some special guests perform during each skate demo. It's going to be dope, listen up.

What's a Saturday night without Steve Van Doren driving around a huge Sk8-Hi? It's not one. The other Saturday night, Curren Caples, Johnny Layton, Geoff Rowley, Daniel Lutheran, 50 skate guys from Active Ride Shop and some other friends joined us at The Berrics for a night of skating. SVD was cooking burgers, handing out free gear and hanging out. Take a look at the video to witness the fun time.

Adriano Lachovski Wins PHXAM

Cowtown's PHXAM presented by Vans saw over 200 skaters this weekend from all across the country as well Canada, Brazil, Mexico and Peru. It was Brazil's Adriano Lachovski who took the win. Canada's Matt Berger won Best Trick with a frontside hurricane kickflip out and took home some cold hard cash along with Adriano.
