It is hard to follow up what HB locals are calling "the best day of surf so far this year" yesterday, but we are giving it a go at the Vans Pier Classic presented by Jacks Surfboards today. There is a south wind, but the swell is holding and there are a lot of waves to be ridden. The sun just came out and the level of competition is coming up as we move through the mens round of 64. This afternoon, we will get started with the Ezekiel Pro Junior, featuring some of the best young talent in the country, so come down and have a look or jump onto the webcast to see it interactive style.
If you are coming out, make sure to bring your camera and upload your pictures here.

The first day of the Vans Pier Classic presented by Jacks Surfboards is officially underway on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier and live on the web. We got lucky with weather passing through early so it is no longer raining but the swell is a little mixed up and there are some on-shores blowing right now. Still, it is fully contestable and the waves are building. The forecast is for the weather to improve, the wind to back off, and a combo swell to fill in on what the HB locals are saying are some quality sandbars. We will roll through 24 heats in the mens round of 160 today. Stay tuned...
