Vans Mini Cup Coming To Loon Mountain January 10th

Join Vans and Eastern Boarder Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Loon Mountain in New Hampshire for the second stop of the Vans Mini Cup, a new series of three rail jams going down around the country this winter. The event kicks off at 11:00 am and will feature an open jam session, narrowing down to a 10-man final judged by Vans Snow team riders Darrell Mathes and Scotty Arnold along with team manager Doran Laybourn. The winner will score an all-expense-paid trip to the Vans Cup at Mammoth and a slot in the event's invite-only rail jam. Cash prizes of $500, $300 and $150 will also be handed out to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in both the men's and women's 16 and over divisions.

Vans Skatepark 2009 Waiver Update (Important)

Starting January 1, 2009 all riders that have previously had a waiver on file at either Vans Skatepark (Orlando, FL & Orange, CA) will need to update their waiver. If you update your waiver by April 1, 2009 you will receive a free day pass voucher that can be used any day in 2009! The offer only applies to riders that have previously had a waiver on file. Please see the letter below regarding the offer and other information.

January Skate Clinic

Start out 2009 on a skateboard! Both Vans parks in Orange, CA and Orlando, FL will be offering skateboard clinics on Saturday, January 24th from 8am - 12pm. Instruction will be given for beginner to advanced street skateboarders. Cost is $50 for non-members and $40 for members. Stop by your nearest park today and sign up because spots are limited.

Wiig Wins Best Trick Slopestyle At The First Ever Winter Dew Tour

After a long week of snow and wind, Vans Snow Team rider Andreas Wiig pulled it together and placed 4th in the Winter Dew Tour slopestyle, but won best trick! A switch backside 1260 to the bottom of the biggest jump on the course was what gave Andreas the best trick honors. It was pretty much the most amazing stomp ever witnessed! Andreas probably would have won if he had enough speed to hit the third and final jump on course. Either way, he killed it and we'll have to see if he can pull it off again at the next stop in Vermont.

Vans Skatepark at The Block in Orange, CA will be opening early a few days this week for the holiday season. The Block is adding a skate session from 8am - 10am on 12/23, 12/24 and 12/26 to satisfy those early riders. Retail and pro shop will be open early as well... please note that we will be closed on Christmas day.

If you saw Tiger Army on tour last summer you probably saw War Tapes. If not here's your chance to check them out. They are offering a free download and currently have an EP out on Sarathan Records. They will have a full-length out in April of 2009. They will also be playing Thursday January 22, 2009 at The Roxy in Hollywood for an all ages show. Vans and Estevan Oriol teamed up Thursday night in Downtown Los Angeles for an evening celebrating the photographer's ICONOclasts series of portraits. Vans commissioned the photos for a print and outdoor campaign seen globally the past few months and those who sat down in front of Oriol's lens included artists Robert Williams and Wes Humpston, musicians Henry Rollins and Lemmy Kilmister, skate legend and filmmaker Stacy Peralta, skater John Cardiel, longboard surfer Joel Tudor, and Sarah from Paris' venerable Colette boutique.

The Vans BMX Team was in Ft. Worth, San Antonio and Austin, Texas this pass weekend. Riders included: Scotty Cranmer, Cory Nastazio, Luke Parslow, Gary Young, Chase Hawk, Ty Morrow, Sean Sexton and Dylan Smith. The Vans team was signing autographs at Vans Stores and riding in Austin at 9th St and T1. Stay tuned for the video coming soon.

The Vans Mini Cup in Winter Park, CO is in the books! The first of a three stop tour to qualify the countries top ams into the Vans Mammoth Cup rail jam went off with a bang. The Colorado Rockies blanketed the slopes with over a foot of fresh snow and the conditions on the hill couldn't have been better.

Join Vans and Satellite Boardshop this Sunday, December 14th at Winter Park Resort in Colorado for the first stop of the Vans Mini Cup, a new series of three rail jams going down around the country this winter. The event kicks off at 11:00 am and will feature an open jam session, narrowing down to a 10-man final judged by the Vans Snow team. The winner will score an all-expense-paid trip to the Vans Cup at Mammoth and a slot in the event's invite-only rail jam. State Radio has announced new tour dates for 2009. They have just wrapped up their 2008 "Take The Country Back" tour. They are playing their final show of the year on December 26th in Washington D.C. The Vans Mini Cup, a new series of three rail jams going down this winter. The top rider from each Mini Cup stop will qualify for the Invitational Rail Jam at the 2009 Vans Cup at Mammoth, widely regarded as the West Coast's most important professional snowboarding competition.
The first Mini Cup stop, presented by Satellite Boardshop, will take place at Winter Park Resort in Colorado on December 14, 2008, followed by rail jams at New Hampshire's Loon Mountain presented by Eastern Boarder on January 10 and California's Bear Mountain presented by Leroys Boardshop and One Way Boardshop on February 14.
The format features an open jam session, narrowing down to a 10-man final judged by Vans Snow team riders.
The winner from each stop will score an all-expense-paid trip to the Vans Cup at Mammoth and slot in the event's invite-only Friday night rail jam.
