Weimer Takes Fourth Victory In San Diego

2/8/10

Weimer back on top of the Podium with the WIN for San Diego! The rain was back for supercross this past weekend in San Diego making for a long day in the pits. Saturday night the plastic tarps were pulled off the dry preserved track to try and give the fans the best racing possible for the wet and cold evening! Once the main event was underway Jake Weimer blasted out of the starting gate with the holeshot leading the Lites field all 15 laps to the checkered flag taking his fourth victory of the season!

When it was time for the Supercross 450 Class to take the track the rain was back for another shower watering the dirt making for a slippery technical track. Once the gate dropped, Ryan Villopoto had his work cut out for him as he had a bad jump out of the gate to make matters worse Villopoto was not able to avoid a first turn crash and found himself on the ground while scrambling to get back on his motorcycle he noticed that points leader Ryan Dungey was also mixed up in this crash. Villopoto had the motivation that he needed to get back into the race and earn some very valuable points over Dungey as Villopoto was able to remount his motorcycle first and resume racing, once Villopoto was able to get into his groove his next job was to work his way to the front of the pack. Once the checkered flag was pulled Villopoto was able to cross the finish line in 4th place only leaving him 10 points out of the series top spot.

First Win Of The Season For Ryan Villopoto

2/1/10

Villopoto brought some heat to San Francisco and topped the podium with his first win for the season! Once the gate dropped in the 450 Supercross Class RV found himself in 7th place after a few laps Villopoto was able to make some moves and found himself right behind fellow Northwest rider Josh Hill. Hill wasn't about to give up without a fight with some aggressive moves back and fourth, Ryan was finally able to make a pass stick and charge forward on the hunt for Dungey. Rookie Rider Ryan Dungey felt the pressure of Villopoto heading his direction and made a huge mistake cross cutting the same triple that he crashed on in his heat race. Dungey was ejected from his Factory Suzuki but with amazement was able to get up in a full sprint to remount his bike and continue riding in the lead. Villopoto soon took the lead away from Dungey to take the top spot on the podium!

Hanny was able to cross the finish line in 7th place.
Jake Weimer was able to maintain second position once the first lap was done but made a couple small mistakes letting leader Trey Canard build some ground on the Lites class. Once Weimer settled back into race mode he was able to maintain his second place position all the way to the podium. Weimer maintains the Lites points lead with a 19 point lead over second place Trey Canard for the West Coast Lites Title!
