Sometimes quietness is associated with saltiness. Moreover, if you're not friends with every human that has dropped in on a 6ft quarter you are labeled conceded. Danny lets his riding speak for him. It's a Dr. Jackyl and Mr. Hyde sort of experience. His riding is just so big, so explosive that you expect him to be the same kind of person off his bike, but he is not. Even after all the successes he has had this year, he is humble, he is quiet, and he is amazingly human.

Tricks that were once laughed at in video games are now being pulled in runs, and during the pressure of a contest. Furthermore, if there is any sort of best trick discipline at a contest, you might as well hand Daniel the check. He rides a little different than everyone else. Being able to put more tricks in one jump or air than anyone else, it is this unfathomable talent that sets him apart from his fellow riders.

Sandoval and Guettler Go HAM at Maddog Contest

2/25/13

Dan Sandoval and Ryan Guettler and Scotty Cranmer made it out to Maddog's contest this weekend in snowy Indiana and came away with some great finishes.  As you can imagine, there were lots of whips, flips and 720s being held at Maddog's skatepark, so they all had their work cut out for them.  Between the snowball fights and pizza, Sandoval won the whole shebang and Guettler held down third place on the podium.  Everyone who could clear the massive box jump was loving it, but that step down just looks scary. For all the wild action check out the video.

Heart and Soul Daniel Sandoval

12/7/12

It's pretty cool to see someone go film some bangers instead of waiting for the next big contest. Looks like Daniel isn't taking it easy in the contest off season. The 3 bar whip to bar must be a first?! Great collection of what Daniel is capable of right here.

Final results from the LXVI Invitational

8/25/12

18 year old Californian Daniel Sandoval took out the win today in Virginia Beach, Virginia at ECSC.

He mixed a bunch of tech moves including bar to whip, late front flips and 360 bar to bar on the last set to beat out Vans team mates Pat Casey and TJ Ellis, also from California.

This is Daniels first big win on the Pro circuit and I'm sure there will be a few more, the kid is on fire!

Look for a video of all the action from todays event, coming soon.

There is still one more day to go, with a Vert Demo planned 1-2pm Sunday. Dennis McCoy, Coco Zurita and Simon Tabron will be the entertainers!

Dew Tour park finals

8/20/12

Six riders made the main in Maryland and they all stepped it up from the preliminary rounds.
The last rider to go was Scotty Cranmer, he had to drop in knowing Brett Banasiewicz, Ryan Nyquist and Kyle Baldock had already posted scores in the 90's. Scotty rose to the occasion beginning his run with a flip double whip over the sub rail, something he hadn't done yet in the competition.

Scotty gave his all and ended up in 3rd place. Kyle Baldock is riding really tech and everything he does he does it seemingly with ease. 360 whip to whip back and upside down 900's every try.

Vans young gun Daniel Sandoval made the main and finished in 5th with moves like a giant triple whip on the drop down hip.

A great performance all round for the Vans crew at the first stop of Dew Tour for 2012. Stop 2 is in October in San Fransisco, check HERE for more info.

Cranmer qualifys first for Dew Final.

8/18/12

Scotty Cranmer has been looking forward to this day for some time. He had to sit through a tough qualifying round yesterday, as a reward for being the 2011 Dew Tour champion.

Today he got to ride park semi final and he got it done first run of three. He was flowing and tricking all over the course to the sounds of Bruce Springsteen and the result was a 92.63!

Scotty qualified first for Sunday's park final along with Aussie, Kyle Baldock and young gun, Daniel Sandoval.

Other Vans pro's in the semi final were Andy Buckworth 7th, Gary Young 8th, and Pat Casey 10th.

Watch the final Sunday on NBC 2pm - 4ET or follow the Vans team @vansbmx66

26 become 11, Dew Tour park prelims

8/17/12

Today in Ocean City, Maryland twenty six riders dropped in for three, forty five second runs. Best run counts and now we have eleven riders for tomorrows semi final. Scotty Cranmer watched today as a bonus for his 2011 season. He will compete tomorrow.

Pat Casey had a flat rear tire just a couple minutes before his name was to be called for run 0ne, with a pit crew on hand, the tire was ready to go and he literally picked up his bike, dropped in and qualified 2nd! Unreal!

Kyle Baldock messed up his first two runs, leaving all the pressure in the world for run three. Kyle pulled it though and qualified in 6th.

Saturdays semi final looks like this. Top 6 will go to Sundays final.

Scotty Cranmer (VANS)
Brett Banasiewicz
Pat Casey (VANS)
Drew Bezanson
Harry Main
Daniel Sandoval (VANS)
Kyle Baldock (VANS)
Ryan Nyquist
Gary Young (VANS)
Garrett Reynolds
Chad Kerley
Andy Buckworth (VANS)

The semis kicks off at 5:30pm ET and televised on NBC Sports at 11pm ET.

Sandoval at FISE

5/24/12

This past weekend seventeen year old Daniel Sandoval traveled to Montpelier in the South of France for FISE, a contest now into its sixteenth year.

FISE has MTB, Wake Boarding, and Skate Boarding events and for BMX they have Flatland, Dirt, Park, Mini Ramp and a Mega Ramp style jump.

This year for the first time FISE was live on Eurosport TV. The organizers told the network that there's no clock or buzzer for the runs and if the rider wants to take 10 tries at a trick he can! No problem! This is a format that would not fly at X Games.

Sandoval finished the weekend with a 3rd in Mini, and 4th in Park.

Here's a quick Q & A on the up and coming star.

Vans: First trip to FISE right? DS: Yeah first FISE, it was great, there was a lot of energy from the crowd!

Vans: With thousands of people screaming for you at FISE why do you have to run headphones haha? DS: I wear my headphone because it keeps me calm an relaxed.

Vans: What are you listening to? DS: I listen to Hip Hop of Dubstep.

Vans: X Games is coming up and you got invited, congrats on that! What are thoughts on X? DS: I am honored to be in it I can't wait to ride the course.

Simple Session 12 wrap up

4/2/12

Tallin, Estonia has become host for one of the biggest park contest's of the year. Simple Session 12 wrapped up this past weekend with 111 entrant's competing and after nine hour's of Prelim's Saturday the top 24 moved onto Sundays final.

Vans had eight riders make the final's and unfortunately a couple of injuries along the way. Josh Harrington was having a great weekend up until final trick's where he tried to over ice a back rail off a really tall wedge. Josh and his long leg's just couldn't run out of the fall and he buckled his knee. Josh will get it looked at when he returns home today.

Gary Young qualified in 5th position and looked for a podium spot in the finals with creative lines, switch 3's and fast pace. Gary went for a huge 270 transfer and his bike smashed his head into the ground and left Gary old cold on the cement floor. Gary walked from the course and went for further treatment at the local Hospital, but was cleared to fly home today.

Pat Casey and Daniel Sandoval, the two rookies on the Vans team, finished 5th and 4th respectively. Both these kid's have a few new trick's every contest it's exciting to see. Pat revealed a flip barspin to tailwhip, and a front flip flair. Daniel is a fire cracker to watch, you know he's going to send something outrageous. At this event he debuted a front flip barspin.

A tough final for the legend's on the Vans team, but a solid one for the rookies.

If you ever want to go to a contest Simple Session has to be on your list, it's the rider's from all over the world, the late night parties the quality ramps with a mix of street incorporated keeps everybody happy. See you in 2013!
