The clichéd moniker of being the "Grandfather of the sport" has plagued Dennis since before most people reading this even started riding. Although he nods his head and smiles, there is a youthful zest to a man that has dominated the biggest ramps known to man for almost 30 years.

It is a little known fact that out of every contest Dennis has entered, where he has remained conscious for the finals, only once has he not made the finals. No other athlete in the history of sport has an acclimation like that. Unfortunately, even though Dennis has world champion titles, he will probably never get the recognition he truly deserves.

Van's sponsor's legends. Dennis McCoy is one of those people that even after he steps out of the limelight, will continue to ride, progress, and live the sport he helped to shape. Yeah Dennis!

BMX Adventurcation in Guam

5/6/13

The Vans crew just returned from a week in Guam riding skateparks, snorkeling and doing demos for the troops at the US Navy base.  Guam is a small tropical island about 1400 miles off the coast of Japan   that has been inhabited for about 4000 years. Right now is a US territory and has insane scuba, snorkeling and a kick ass skatepark.  This is the Van's team's 3rd time to Guam (2007 & 2010) and it was just as hot as the last two trips. Watch out for the video of Gary Young, Alistair Whitton, Michael Steingraber, Dennis McCoy, Coco Zurita and Ryan Guettler getting tropical in the next couple weeks. Big Thanks to Bill Marx with the NEX for all the hospitality.

Vote DMC for the BMX Hall of Fame

1/2/13

It's pretty crazy to think that Dennis McCoy is not in the BMX Hall of fame, considering he turned pro before a couple of the guys on the Vans BMX team were even born.
Nominations for the BMX Hall of fame just opened and anyone can make nominations.  DMC has too many accomplishments to list on here but the BMX historians over on 23mag have a great wiki history of Dennis and all his media exploits. Go to this link vote for Dennis McCoy for the BMX Hall of Fame and let everyone in your tweet world know you voted with a #DMC4HOF tag!

HARO's Generations of Freestyle: Dennis McCoy

9/25/12

Vans BMX caught up with Dennis McCoy at Interbike for a look at some of his retro Haro gear in the Generations of Freestyle pop-up museum. Dennis gives you an incredibly brief history of BMX and give you the low down on buy a hundred pairs of Vans and slinging them at the BMX track to make a buck when he was a kid.  Respect the hustle!

X Games Invites, Vans Team Coming in Hot!

5/21/12

Vans just made a big splash in the X Games list with riders invited from every BMX discipline. Simon Tabron will be kicking it in Big Air and Vert with DMC and Coco Zurita teaming up on the vert ramp as well. BMX Park is pretty stacked with Scotty Cranmer, Gary Young, Chase Hawk, Kyle Baldock, Pat Casey, Diogo Canina, Rob Darden, Bas Keep and Daniel Sandoval. Chances of an all Vans podium are pretty good for that one! Street will be a treat with Dakota Roche, Ty Morrow, Bruno Hoffman, Sean and Sexton throwing down, but look for a few more Vans riders to make it in before everything is said and done.

McCoy and Coco Take on Vert In China

4/30/11

Asian X Games is going off this weekend in China and we just got word that Dennis McCoy took 3rd in vert and Coco was right behind him in 4th place. Dakota rides street late tonight sometime (which is tomorrow over there) so we'll let know how the rest of the crew does. In the meantime everyone is shopping at the black market and playing fear factor with the local cuisine.

Coco 3 Q's on Dew finals

10/18/10

The final stop of Dew Tour was at the Hard Rock pool in Vegas, how was that?

It was amazing, such a mellow and relaxed environment, weather was great people was loud, totally something never seen in BMX before, a Vert ramp over a pool! It was really fun!

Was it the best scenery you have ever rode Vert at?

It totally was the best contest scene I've been apart of!
I hope they repeat this every year.

DMC took 3rd place?

DMC did an amazing job putting his run together, and he landed all his tricks! Like 540's and 900's! He is my hope to keep riding Haha. I hope I can ride till that age! (DMC is 43)

TJ Ellis and DMC Scores Podium spots in Vegas

10/17/10

The Dew Tour Final in Las Vegas are now a wrap and TJ Ellis front-flip-whipped his way to a 3rd place podium spot in BMX Dirt along with blasting the most massive backflips of the night. TJ ended the season in thrid place overall followed by Vans BMX rider Luke Parslow only six points behind.

BMX legend Dennis McCoy reached deep into his vert roots and rode to a 3rd place finish in BMX Vert and came in 9th for the season tour. His teammate Coco Zurita stayed within the top 5 for the 2010 season.

The park course was crazy once again and it was Vans UK shredder Mark Webb who came within striking distance of the Dew Cup and brought out a 360 triple tailwhip en route to a 3rd place in the overall series with Scotty Cranmer in 8th place and Gary Yong in 11th.

Congrats to all the Vans riders who continue to push the level of BMX on and off the course!
