I literally ran from the Main Stage to the Outdoor Stage trying to catch At The Drive In and then shoot Florence + The Machine. I had to miss some of ATDI unfortunately but managed to jump into the photo pit just as the lights were coming up and Florence was taking the stage. I have to say that this was probably my favorite set to shoot of the whole festival. She not only sounded amazing but the lights and her dress were so perfect for the performance. Here are a few of my favorite shots, more on our Flickr.
...and Eminem, and 50 cent, and Warren G, and Wiz Khalifa, and.... Tupac? Yeah. That Happened. Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg took the stage with an insane cast of cameos and some even more insane technology by bringing a hologram of Tupac on stage to perform with them. 50 cent played hits and Eminem closed the show. I gotta say that I never thought I'd see that lineup in my lifetime. Check out a ton more photos from the set on our Flickr, and a few more below too. I can't wait to see how they shake things up for next weekend.
If there was one mistake at Coachella this weekend, it was not putting Gotye on a bigger stage. I have never seen such an insane crowd at one of the tents. The photo pit was at capacity, the VIP area was at capacity, and the crowd was definitely over capacity if you could put one on a tent. The band sounded awesome and people were literally fighting to get in... oh and the night before his performance what was he doing to prepare? Playing Saturday Night Live. Yeah dude, we think you are having a moment.
The Allah-Las brought the beach to the desert on Sunday night of Desert Daze. Nothing could enhance their garage psych rock better than an accompanied lava lamp light show and an audience equipped with energy and beach balls. You know a band has something special if they can get a crowd so pumped without jumping all over the stage themselves. I grant them "The only band I've ever seen who ended their encore with a bassa nova jam session" award. Congrats! More pictures for you on Vans Flickr.
Hard Rock and Spin brought the Coachella fever to the Bermuda Dunes on Sunday with a day party equipped with listening booths, DJ's, and even a makeshift tattoo parlor. Check out all the lovely faces who made it out the mansion oasis on our Flickr.
