The 2013 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 4-Star Vans Pro completed 31 heats on the opening day of competition in peaky one-to-three foot waves at 1st Street Jetty in Virginia Beach, narrowing the field down from 128 to 64.

A small mix of SE/ESE swell and lingering NE windswell is expected to kick off the 2013 East Coast Surfing Championship on Monday. Small SE/ESE swell is on tap for the remainder of the week and into next weekend.
The Vans Pro is the only US East Coast event on the 2013 ASP Qualifying Series, attracting some of the nation’s top talent and international rising stars who are in search of crucial points towards their ASP World Ranking.
Tanner Gudauskas (San Clemente, CA), 25, top seed at the Vans Pro, was a standout in last year’s event and was quick to mention that board selection is crucial in earning a top result in Virginia Beach’s often challenging conditions.
Vans Surf Team riders Dane and Tanner Gudauskas and Joel Tudor along with over 150 surfers will take the water over the seven day contest. See if your favorite surfer will be there.ECSC 2013
