We've got quite the crew here from Vans this week so I thought I'd pull together some of the group's shots from Instagram. From top to bottom we've got Steve Vans Doren with our BMX riders Cory Nastazio and Coco Zurita. Joel Tudor just after a longboarding heat, followed by Tanner Gudauskas after winning a Vans Pro heat, and then Dane Gudauskas getting ready for his round. Fifth is Andrew Doheny getting ready for the Vans Pro Jr. Semifinals and last up is Maceo from De La Soul who DJed the Vans party here in Virginia Beach last night. That dude rules, we seriously had the best dance off.
Today's top shot is of Jeff Grosso during the Vans Skate Demo by @glengut on Instagram. Thanks for sharing all your photos with us all week, take a look through all of the tagged images by clicking Instagram at the top of this page.
The BMX guys put on a demo using the vert ramp and LXVI course for the last day of the event today. Here's a few awesome photos of Coco Zurita, Dennis McCoy, and Simon Tabron. Photos by Colin Mackay. Be sure to follow the BMX crew on Twitter for more updates.
Yesterday wrapped up the LXVI BMX Invitational contest and Daniel Sandoval claimed first place and $5,000. In the last of his three runs, Sandoval combined a bar to whip, a huge late front flip and 360 bar to bar for the highest score of the day. At the end of the day three Californians took the podium, Pat Casey was in second earning $3,750, while TJ Ellis took home $3,000 for third place. Not too shabby, guys. Four local Virginia high schools got to throw their own rendition of a fashion show yesterday at the beach. Each group took their turn on the Vans & Coastal Edge stage dressed in new Vans gear and they did everything from leaps, flips and turns, to skating down the runway. It was a ton of fun to watch and all the schools did a great job putting together their part of the show. With all the contests going on out here I was glad we didn't have to pick a winner on this one, that would have been tough.
Iration took the stage as the last band of the festival for us last night. They were easily the crowd favorite and had everyone dancing and singing even after a long hot day on the beach. They have a ton of upcoming shows all over the United States so be sure to check them out.
Lots of people on the beach Saturday watching the surfing, skating, BMX, FMX, fashion show, and music. Here's a few of the people I met running around, stay tuned for photos from the contest as well.
Gavin corners Tanner Gudauskas after his heat in Virginia Beach to discuss hair products and the Jamaican bobsled team.
Saturday's photo of the day comes from @bsmith70 on Instagram. This actually happened y'all. Whoa.
