Dylan Goodale Takes Out Vans Pier Classic

Hawaiian regular-footer Dylan Goodale took out a massive win at the Vans Pier Classic today to defeat former event champion Micah Byrne, big wave charger Peter Mel, and Santa Cruz air specialist and Vans team rider Jason 'Ratboy' Collins. The ASP WQS win is the first career victory for the Kauai surfer, who stamped his name as this year's Vans Pier Classic champ to ring in his 19th birthday.

The final day of the ASP WQS 2-Star Vans Pier Classic presented by Jack's Surfboards is LIVE today with Vans teamrider Jason 'Ratboy' Collins battling the remaining 16 surfers including former champion and local H.B. standout Micah Byrne, young Peruvian Cristobal De Col, and East Coaster Asher Nolan for this year's Vans Pier Classic title. Doheny Flares at Ezekiel Pro Junior

ASP Pro Junior Standout Andrew Doheny blitzed his way through to the Quarterfinals of the Ezekiel Pro Junior today alongside America's best junior surfers. The regular-footer will have his shot at this year's Ezekiel Pro Junior crown tomorrow before the Vans Pier Classic crowns their 2010 champion.

Ratboy Moves to Quarterfinals of Vans Pier Classic

Jason 'Ratboy' Collins moved on to the Quarterfinals of the Vans Pier Classic this afternoon, making him one of only 16 surfers remaining in the men's ASP WQS 2-Star contest. Also flaring up in today's competition were Hawaiian natives Macy Mullen and Tyler Newton. Both surfers blasted the rounds highest scores.

The top 32 surfers remaining in the Vans Pier Classic presented by Jack's Surfboards are battling it out for their spot in the Quarterfinals this morning in peaky surf at South Huntington Beach Pier. Former event champion and local favorite Micah Byrne, former ASP World Tour surfer Ben Bourgeois and Vans team rider and aerial specialist Jason 'Ratboy' Collins are a few top names hitting the lineup in today's action.

Goodale Upsets Losness in Round of 32 of Vans Pier Classic

Young Hawaiian ripper Dylan Goodale issued the upset of the Vans Pier Classic today when he squashed defending Vans Pier Classic champion Mike Losness' chances of a repeat title in the Round of 32 today. Also flaring up in today's action were top seeds Chris Waring and East Coaster Cody Thompson. Both surfers put on a show for the crowd in one of the best heats of the day with mind-blowing backside surfing on some wedgy lefthand peaks at South Huntington Beach Pier today. Ratboy Pushes Through to Round 5

Vans team rider, ASP WQS standout and innovative air guy Jason 'Ratboy' Collins won his Round 4 heat today to keep his chances of the Vans Pier Classic Title alive and is now one of only 32 competitors remaining in the men's main event. The Santa Cruz surfer will fight youngster Ian Crane and Huntington Beach local Chris Waring in his next heat.

Doheny Advances to Round 4 of Vans Pier Classic

Vans team rider Andrew Doheny joined the group of ASP Pro Junior talent including Kolohe Andino, Florida's Evan Thompson and Peruvian Cristobal de Col to advance to Round 4 in today's Vans Pier Classic action. Doheny relied on his powerhouse forhand carves to move him to the next round where he will surf against the event's top seeds. Also moving through today's action was former event champion Micah Byrne. Byrne relied on his local knowledge of South Huntington Beach Pier to surf his way through to the next round.

Tomorrow's action also includes defending event champion and freesurfing freak Mike Losness as well as 2008 Vans Pier Classic Champion and local favorite Shaun Ward.

Andino Goes Ballistic in Round 3 of Vans Pier Classic

California talent Kolohe Andino went absolutely mental in Round 3 of the Vans Pier Classic this morning, combining massive tail-out turns, critical airs and classic floaters to stomp the top scores of the morning with a 9 on the way to blasting a 16.25 heat total. Ezekiel Pro Junior action is up next.

The second day of the ASP WQS 2-Star Vans Pier Classic is ON this morning beginning with Heat 3 of Round 3. Today's competition will see Vans team rider and ASP Pro Junior standout Andrew Doheny hit the water alongside former ASP World Tour surfer Benny Bourgeois and former event champion and local favorite Micah Byrne. Following the men's competition will be Rounds 1 and 2 of the Ezekiel Pro Junior.

Bourgeois Leads Field through Early Rounds of Vans Pier Classic

Former ASP World Tour surfer Ben Bourgeois stamped his authority as an event favorite at this year's Vans Pier Classic by tearing his way through the first two rounds while blasting the day's top scores. Also flaring up in the opening rounds were junior talents Dillon Perillo and Kolohe Andino, who mixed up committing airs and clean carving turns to advance through to Round 3. Tomorrow's Vans Pier Classic action will also see surfers competing in the Ezekiel Pro Junior event hit the water alongside Round 3 of the men's main event.

Opening Day of Vans Pier Classic is Underway!

 The opening Round of the Vans Pier Classic is underway today in peaky four foot surf at South Huntington Pier and the event has already seen some solid action with former ASP World Tour surfer Benny Bourgeois crushing massive scores in his opening heats. The East Coaster is set to surf again today in Round 2. Also hitting the water today will be young Hawaiian chargers and Vans team riders Ivan and Nathan Florence.

Vans Pier Classic Coming To Huntington Beach March 24 - March 28

The Vans Pier Classic presented by Jacks, now in it's 5th year, to be held between March 24th thru 28th on the south side of Huntington Beach Pier is a mainstay on the North American competitive surf calender. Featuring a WQS 2 star as well as a grade 2 Pro Jr, the Pier Classic features some of the brightest up-and-coming stars in surfing as well as offering a platform for top regional talent. The Huntington Pier always seems to have waves, in the previous contest we've had better than average surf for most of the contest period, the weather can be a mixed bag but like the waves most years have had a mix of more good than bad. Competition begins on the 24th of March, if you can't attend please tune into the live webcast.
