Kerr and Curran Leading at Vans Pier Classic

Progressive aerialist Josh Kerr continued his tear at the Vans Pier Classic today. This time Kerrzy ripped into the nearly perfect peaky six foot surf at HB Pier to thread the needle on a few barrels breaking into the pier and then unleashed some powerful carves to notch the highest scores of competition once again. The Aussie's 16.93 heat total combined with his 16 point score yesterday have established Kerr as the man to beat at the this year's Vans Pier Classic, but he'll still have to battle fellow ASP World Tour surfers including Adriano de Souza, Taylor Knox, Damien Hobgood and Gabe Kling, who will all surf in the Round of 64.
Also blowing up in the early morning HB perfection was former ASP World Tour surfer Timmy Curran. The goofy-footer drove his way through several racy Huntington barrels and dropped a few mental turns in conditions he claimed were 'the best Huntington he'd ever surfed.' After taking a break from competition over the last few years to focus on his music career, Curran is amped to be back in a contest jersey and plans on competing in a few U.S. contests this season.
