Hey! Kolohe Andino won the Vans Pro and he made the final in the Vans Pro Junior! Are you surprised? Well... you shouldn't be, because he won both the Vans Pier Classic and Vans Pro Junior in Huntington Beach back in March! The high-flying Californian went absolutely berserk in the building swell compliments of Hurricane Irene, launching air-reverses, laying down mean larry-lay backs, buring his rail... pretty much Kolohe Andino did everything and took out the massive Vans Pro victory. Andino won the final over good friend Luke Davis, Leigh Sedley and former World Tour surfer Nathaniel Curran
Nat Young was equally mental in the Vans Pro Junior and belted the holy-hell out of an amazing righthander reminiscent of his homebreak in Santa Cruz. Young smashed the perfect wave who knows how many times, even he must have lost count of how many turns he did, and was awarded with a 9.87 from the judges, the highest score of the entire competition! Young was surfing in his final event as a Junior and it's more than safe to say that the toe-head went out in style. The deadly goofy-footer topped Hawaiians Tanner Hendrickson and Keanu Asing, as well as Senor Andino to take out the Vans Pro Junior Victory!
Another massive victory unfolded, because despite the threats from the city trying to shut the contest down due to those pesky hurricane warnings and the naughty girl Irene herself, the Coastal Edge Vans Pro and Vans Pro Junior was completed despite a severely compressed time line!
Come back next year!
