I bought my first Vans on a trip to LA back in the early 80's when there wasn't a lot of skate stuff out. I loved the cool comfort back then so why change when you have shoes that feel great and look cool too. One thing I like is that I have always been able to get the same great fit even as Vans have evolved and made more styles. Tons of other shoes are comfortable, but you can't beat the origional! Buy Vans, sk8 vans. Amen.

    Almost perfect.

I would love to give these shoes a 5. They are quite attractive and you can wear them with almost anything. I'd sport these with a suit. However...

Somehow I've managed to wear through the black fabric on the outside of my black/black pretty quickly (3-4 months of moderate use) and now I have a little white line on the top of both shoes. If the inside liners were the same color as the uppers this wouldn't be an issue. Or just make the upper more resilient.

It is really quite noticeable on my shoes. I'm cheap and I'll probably try to color it in with a black marker. This may only be an issue with the black/black.

So buy these shoes. They are awesome, just don't expect them to last forever.

(I wish vans came in a wide size for people that need a very large toe box)

    Comments about Solid Colors Slip-On:

I am on my 4th pair of these, all sized 10. Yes, four pairs, and yes they wear out, about 1 everyone year or so, but that is what you get when you pay $50 for a pair of shoes. For me, the heal goes quickly, as my ankle rubs it out. The colour fades too. And they have no support, so after a year there is virtually no cushioning.

The trade off is worth it -- a pair of shoes that goes with anything, and look great, and get lots of compliments. They are simple and just look good. I have worn them year round (get a little damp in the rain in Vancouver). I have worn them traveling, from Scotland to the Sahara desert. I wore them for work, when I did house calls. I wear them to parties, to a bar, to the beach, or just out to the grocery store. I will always own a pair of these! Vans -- do you sponsor every day people?

By far my "go to" shoe... However, ever since the Metallica slip on shoe line came out, I haven't been able to find an all black slip on. Please bring back the all black slip on shoe that includes both the heel tag and the side tag. Don't get me wrong Metallica is awesome, but I can't wear those into work. Pleeease!!! :)

These are my 8 year old sons favorite shoes! He's managed to keep these shoes around, stretching them out to fit him for 3 years! Luckily, we bought them a little big. His are very well loved and worn. He wouldn't pick any other shoe!
