Not all that long ago, in a galaxy kind of close to Southern California, two icons of film and footwear joined forces to deliver on an out-of-this-world collection. For fall 2014, the Vans x Star Wars collection showcases artwork from the original Star Wars trilogy merged with heritage Vans designs. Spanning from Classics to Vault by Vans footwear, these designs take a different approach to brand collaboration and reach far beyond mere logo placement. Honoring a partnership that doesn’t come around every day, each creation lives up to the suggested caliber.
Vans x Star Wars offers a six-piece Classics capsule. Two colorways of the Authentic feature Boba Fett and Stormtrooper characters with an unassuming Boba Fett camo variation that, upon closer inspection, reveals the bounty hunter hidden alongside the Death Star, Darth Vader and the Stormtrooper. The second Authentic design mashes up Stormtrooper silhouettes in a traditional bandana print as a discreet but powerful all-over pattern. Yoda brings balance to the Force on an Authentic and Sk8-Hi Reissue in a Hawaiian print blended with images of the revered Jedi Master peacefully resting between luminous hibiscus flowers. As a tribute to the original film, Vans pairs the Classic Slip-On with the 1977 poster artwork from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and shows the Era in comic-book style graphics from vintage Star Wars merchandise.
